Magical Scenes Along Chicago River Amid City’s 3rd Annual Water Music Event
Crowds gathered along the Chicago River to watch the city’s third annual Chicago Water Music on September 9.
Footage from Craig Shimala shows spectators congregated along the Riverwalk, streets, and bridges, to watch Music of the Baroque performing from a sightseeing boat on the river.
“Hallelujah for Chicago’s newest tradition, The Chicago Water Music,” Shimala wrote in a post on X. “Handel composed his famous Water Music in 1717 for a boat party on the River Thames; tonight, we enjoyed it along the Chicago River.”
Shimala told Storyful that a number of musicians “performed excerpts from Handel’s Water Music, Music for the Royal Fireworks, the opening of Vivaldi’s Gloria, and more from local boat tour company Shoreline Sightseeing’s ‘Bright Star’.” Credit: Craig Shimala via Storyful Link to article.
