Residents of Illinois, this one is for you! Chicago Museums are offering special days to residents where admission to enter their museum is free! Shoreline Sightseeing is picking up the Water Taxi Service over the weekends and soon everyday! Use our taxi as your main mode of transportation that drops you off right at Museum Campus home to the Adler Planetarium, Field Museum, and Shedd Aquarium. Take advantage of these days that give residents the chance to experience the fun sightseeing that each museum listed has to offer.
Adler Planetarium Chicago
Visit the Adler Planetarium and enter their realm of fascinating sights of the sky and through their special exhibits.
The Adler Planetarium free days are every Wednesday from 4pm to 10pm. Illinois residents can take advantage of free admission with proof of residency! You can book online in advanced. Note that Illinois teachers always receive free admission!
Field Museum Chicago
The Field Museum of Chicago’s free days are being held from now every Wednesday up until May 28th for residents that show proof of residency. Including the Ancient Americas, Inside Ancient Egypt, and the Evolving Planet exhibits.
Shedd Aquarium Chicago
Residents can enjoy Shedd Aquarium free days on select Tuesday Evenings from 5pm to 9pm. Days included for the offer are April 15, 22, 29 and May 6, 13, 20, 27. Visitors can reserve tickets online or walk-ins are also welcome!
Art Institute of Chicago
For those under the age of 18 the Art Institute offers free admission. The Institute offers their free admission days on Thursday evenings from June 1st through September 25th. While that may be a couple months away, its never a bad idea to plan ahead and keep this in mind.
The Art Institute is a short 10 to 15 minute walk South of our Michigan Avenue location if you wanted to include more Chicago sightseeing in your day! Our Chicago River Water Taxi stops at Michigan Avenue as another convenient option.
Chicago Children’s Museum
Veterans that plan on visiting Navy Pier can visit the Children’s Museum near the front entrance of the Pier. They receive 1 free admission daily when they present their military ID. Active-duty military will receive up to four free admissions for themselves and three guests to accompany them with the proper military identification, this offer is also available daily.
Griffin Museum of Science and Industry
This upcoming April 20th will be the sole day of free admission for April at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry until June 12th and June 19th when this offer will return for Illinois residents.

Our water taxi service as mentioned has two different routes! Our lakeside taxi stops are Navy Pier, Buckingham Fountain, and Museum Campus. Getting to and from your destination in a convenient, time efficient, and scenic way! The riverside water taxi pick-up and drop-off stops are Navy Pier, Michigan Avenue, and the Willis Tower.
