Upcoming Concerts in Chicago
Not only is Chicago home to some of the country’s most iconic landmarks, it is also home to a lively music scene. From large arenas to smaller, more intimate venues, there is plenty going on this January for the music lover in Chicago. Here are just a few of the upcoming concerts in Chicago worth checking out.
Eli Young Band – January 13
This country band has three number one hits, a Grammy nomination, and an ACM award for their song, “Crazy Girl.” They will be playing at Joe’s Bar on January 13 as part of the Keith Relief Benefit Concert. Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith founded Keith Relief in 2011 with his wife Kelly-Rae. The organization’s goal is to help minimize the emotional and financial burdens for individuals and their families who are suffering from medical crisis. Joe’s Bar is located at 940 West Weed Street.
Sam Smith – January 23
This British singer/songwriter has taken over the charts with hits like “Stay With Me” and “I’m not the Only One.” He also made a guest appearance on the chart-topping tune, “Latch” by Disclosure. Although he is a newcomer to the music scene, he is already selling out almost any show he announces. His first arena tour will be hitting UIC Pavilion, 525 S. Racine Ave., on Friday, January 23.
Fall Out Boy – January 24
These Wilmette natives are no strangers to Chicago. The broke into the emo-pop scene during the early 2000s and have reinvented their sound after a brief hiatus. Hits like “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark” and “Centuries” have become part of the professional sports soundtrack in the U.S. Although they have been selling out arenas for the past few years, the band opted for a smaller hometown show at Lincoln Hall to promote their new album, “American Beauty/American Psycho,” on January 24. Lincoln Hall is located at 2424 N. Lincoln Ave.
