Things to Do in Chicago | November

Welcome to THE CAPTAIN’S BLOG. This is the place to go for The Captain’s tips on where to drop anchor and find the best things to do and places to go in Chicago!

The holiday season is nearly here! Before you know it, all of the streets will be gorgeously lit up and store window fronts will be full of exciting gifts (especially on the Magnificent Mile). While Shoreline Sightseeing will not be in full swing like the summer, we still like to stay involved in all of the festivities going on around the city and surrounding area, and we like to keep YOU in the loop too! Here are a few fun things to do with friends or family during the upcoming month:

Wicked Returns to Chicago

The hit music Wicked returns to Chicago at the Oriental Theater from October 30 – December 21, 2013!  The musical had a heavy three-and-a-half year run here in Chicago from 2005-2009 and has returned as a part of its 10th anniversary. Tickets will go fast so we recommend getting yours now!

McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade (November 28, 2013)

This parade is significant, memorable and a Chicago tradition! The morning Thanksgiving Parade includes giant balloons, floats, and the best marching bands that go north on State Street from Congress to Washington.

This year the Parade will kick off at 77th Street and Central Park West and march down to Columbus Circle where it will turn onto Central Park South. At 6th Avenue, the Parade veers south and marches from 59th Street to 34th Street, where it will make its final turn and stop in front of Macy’s Herald Square.

Don’t miss out on this spectacular parade! For more parade info, click here.

Chicago Toy & Game Fair (November 23-24th, 2013)

If you have kids, love to collect or just see the latest toys around, this is the place for you to be. The Chicago Toy and Game Fair will be held at Navy Pier and is a show where the public can preview and play with the latest and hottest products in the toy and game industry!  Kids can build towers, play in tournaments and meet characters from Star Wars to Moshi Monsters and so much more!

This is a great way to kick off the holiday season and create special memories on The Magnificent Mile! Being the nation’s largest evening holiday celebration, this is one you won’t want to miss! There will be family friendly activities in Lights Festival Lane, concerts by top musical artists on the BMO Harris Bank Stage, holiday shopping, the grand Tree-Lighting Parade down Michigan Avenue, and to top it all off, a Fireworks Spectacular show over the Chicago River!

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook or Twitter (@ShorelineSights) to be the first to hear about special offers and contests!

Have fun out there!
