Fun Marathons in Chicago
Whether you’re interested in testing your physical endurance, looking to support a good cause, bond with friends, or a combination of all three, there are a variety of fun marathons in Chicago to run this year! Let’s take a look at some upcoming Chicago runs that are an absolute blast to participate in.
Chicago Hot Chocolate 15K
Happening this November in Grant Park, Chicago, the Hot Chocolate 15K is a great marathon to run with friends and family. It’s an extraordinarily relaxed race on a very scenic course. Participants can choose to run or walk, and at the end of the Hot Chocolate 15K, all participants are given a steaming cup of hot cocoa and a goodie bag! Registration for this race is currently open, and attendees can participate in fundraising for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Chicagoland to raise money for children in need.
The Ugly Sweater Run
For some, it is a time-honored family tradition to wear a hideous sweater around the holidays. Why not spice up that tradition by wearing your ugliest sweater for the Ugly Sweater Run in Chicago? Now a nationwide marathon, the Ugly Sweater Run actually originated in this beautiful city and will be happening on November 29, 2014 at Soldier Field. At the end of the run, you will receive your choice of hot chocolate or beer during post-run activities.
This run changes up the 5K formula by allowing participants to enjoy a fun, neon-filled marathon after the sun has gone down. The Blacklight Run will be happening on August 15, 2014 at Toyota Park. The entire course is lit with high-powered blacklights, which highlight the vivid neon glow powder that participants are showered in at designated zones! At the end of the race, all attendees will be covered in ultraviolet powder and receive goodie bags full of fun items, including admission to the Blacklight Run post-race party. Picture-taking is highly encouraged, so bring your camera and your friends!
